The Werkbund Zeus Black & White is a phunnel hookah bowl from Werkbund Hookah, a brand from Dresden. Each bowl is handwork: a clay mix covered with a heat-resistant glaze. At the top you see glossy black with white speckles, at the bottom a brown base with ribs. No two bowls are exactly alike.

In the centre of the bowl there is one hole on a raised island. You fill the ring around it, and the molasses stays in the bowl instead of running into your stem. Put a heat management device or foil on top and first heat your natural coals through completely on a coal burner. The clay holds heat well, so start with fewer coals than usual.
Because it is handwork, shape, colour gradient and logo differ per bowl; a logo is sometimes missing altogether. According to Werkbund, fine hairline cracks in the glaze and some discolouration after a few sessions are part of the material. Only clean it once it has cooled down, under the warm tap and without soap.
